The Kane County Bar Association is proud to offer ONLINE WEBINARS for our members. Our goal is to post annually, approximately 15 hours of online accredited CLE.
Currently, there are two Webinars available for viewing: Commercial Real Estate, recorded on December 5, 2013, and The 21st Century Civil Trial in the 16th Judicial Circuit, recorded on February 6, 2014. Other seminars to be recorded/posted before June 30, 2014 include The 2014 Estate, Probate and Elder Law Seminar (recorded on March 5, 2014) and the Family Law Seminar (to be recorded on May 1, 2014). (Please note that if you attend a seminar in person, you cannot watch it online and obtain double credits.)
To view the Webinars, you must be logged into the KCBA website. The webinars can be accessed in two places, both located under the Member Services tab on our home page. The Continuing Legal Education page has a link to the Webinars, and you can also simply click on the Webinars tab on the drop down menu under Member Services.
When you arrive on the Webinars page, click on the video you would like to watch. The first thing you must do is agree that you understand that to qualify for CLE certification, you must view the complete video. Upon clicking the “I agree” button, the video viewer will open on the left side of the page. Once you have watched the entire video an affidavit will pop up under the video viewer, where you will certify that you watched the entire program. You will click the “I agree” button and to obtain your CLE Certificate, you click on the “Confirm” button. Then you will be able to download and print your certificate. You may stop and resume at any time, similar to the way you watch something on TV that you’ve recorded on demand. The program “remembers” approximately where you left off and you will be able to resume watching.
On the right side of the Webinars page you will see three tabs: Info, Media, and Feedback. The Info Tab simply identifies the seminar and speakers. The Media Tab hosts all of the printed materials that were distributed at the seminar. Please remember that some speakers do not always include printed materials. The Feedback Tab is available should you have any questions for the speakers. Your email will go to CLE Coordinator Julie Karlson, and she will forward your questions directly to the speakers on your behalf.
If you are having trouble getting the video to open up, you may need to check your browser (we suggest Firefox) and any pop-ups you may have blocked. If you continue to have technical difficulties with the online Webinars, please contact KCBA Executive Director, Jan Wade, at firstname.lastname@example.org. The program is new to us, so there may be some glitches, although we hope not!
We hope that you will appreciate the convenience of obtaining CLE credits online, but we do hope that you will continue to support our live seminars and take advantage of the networking opportunities that accompany participating in person.
