KCBA Board of Managers Election

There are two vacancies on the Kane County Bar Association Board of Managers to be filled this year, each of which is for a three year term, beginning July 1, 2013.  Being a board member requires you to attend monthly meetings of the Board of Managers.  Meetings usually last about an hour and are held either during the lunch hour or at 5:00 pm.  The meeting day and time are set at the beginning of each new fiscal year and are planned to fit into everyone’s schedule.  Board members set policy and direction for the bar staff to implement and also serve as ambassadors throughout the legal community. There is also a vacancy on the “Officer Track” for the position of Secretary/Treasurer.  This is a four year commitment, because once someone is elected as Secretary/Treasurer, they spend a year in that position, the next year as Vice-President, the third year as President, and the last year as Immediate Past President, which is a non-voting seat on the Board. 

March 1, 2013 is the deadline for submitting a petition for either one of the seats on the board, or for the Secretary/Treasurer petition.  You need to have twenty signatures of current KCBA members.  Please make sure we can read their printed name because the bar staff will verify membership status and if we can’t read their name it will not count toward the requirement.  Should there be more petitions submitted than the available seats, there will be a contested election, which will be conducted online, as we did last year during the last two weeks of April.
